Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Life Coaching?” – In simple terms - it bridges the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Life Coaching provides a structure for you to achieve transformational results. There will be action plans, encouraging support and you'll have accountability.

Industry language - Life Coaching is a process that enhances your life by creating awareness of your own resources and providing techniques to positively move you forward in some (or all) areas of your life. Unlike sports coaching (where you're told what to do), Life Coaching includes self-discovery which can allow you to gain insights and open up to further possibilities to solve the issue. It is possible that during the process, limiting beliefs that have been blocking you and leading you to self-sabotaging habits, can be uncovered.

Who Life Coaching IS for

* Someone who hasn't been able to get the desired results on their own

* Someone who is aware that they would like a change, but doesn't know how to make that happen

* Someone who has had a big change in life and now needs help with the "what's next"

* Someone who feels lost, stuck or lacking in confidence

Who Life Coaching is NOT for

* Someone who is not ready to take responsibility for their own actions & reactions

* Someone who is currently suffering from depression or another psychological issue

* Someone who wants to have all their problems fixed for them & is not prepared to do the work

* Someone who makes excuses and blames other people

Why work with a Life Coach?” - Perhaps your life is out of balance; maybe you're fogged by confusion; perhaps you know what you don’t want but don’t know how to turn it around; maybe you planned and started a goal, but lost motivation and/or got stuck somewhere; or you just want to get to where you’re heading faster, with better clarity.

What can I expect with my coaching experience?”  - For starters, life coaching is different to sports coaching (you aren’t told what to do). We look at what is going on right now, what is working well and what could do with some assistance. There will be questions to answer (to gain insight), goals to set and action steps to take (of your choice) all leading to success. The Life Coaching Academy explains that Life Coaching begins with an awareness that every human is born with the ability to be, do or have, whatever they want in life. LCA teaches that a coach is non-critical and non-judgmental and will guide the client to the recognition of their own vast personal potential in a way that is far greater than the support of family or friends, whose views may be clouded by their own issues and problems. Coaches are totally committed to each client but maintain an impartiality which allows them to clearly see the way forward and to encourage and monitor progress by stages.

Where and how is coaching conducted?”  - Wherever you are: by phone, Zoom or Skype. As coaching is conversational, there is no need to meet physically in person, so you can be coached in the comfort of your own home or office.

What sort of issues do you cover in coaching?”  - Pretty much anything you like, it's a matter of what you would most want to change for the better. Some things may appear small and easy for one person, but be a big problem for another, and that's fine, we just go through the process until the resolution is discovered.

Who trained the Coach?”  - Not all training institutes are created equal. It was important for D to learn quality course content with a College that incorporates great values and carries high level accreditation. Only a few have ICF (International Coaching Federation) accreditation, and only a few are recognised by the Australian Government to be worthy of allowing eligible students to receive study funding, the Life Coaching Academy covers all of that and more. Established in Australia 2001, LCA is dedicated to establishing and maintaining the highest levels of professionalism in coaching whilst developing, innovating and responding to changes in the profession. It recognises that coach training is one of the foremost personal development procedures for coaches and their clients. The mission of the ICF Credentialing program is to: Protect and serve consumers of coaching services, measure and certify competence of individuals, inspire pursuit of continuous development.
Additionally D has a wide variety of other personal development training, from in-depth group courses, self-paced courses, weekend & full-day seminars and work-shops, to audios and books.

"Is there any guarantee or refund?" - Since you, the client, will be doing the action to bring about the positive change in your life, I cannot guarantee that you will achieve your exact expectations. Having said that nevertheless, I am very confident that when you do the steps, you will progress in ways that will more than satisfy you. However, if you find that coaching is not for you, no worries, we will stop the session and you will be refunded (terms apply).

It is important to note that coaching and counselling are different (even though they have some similarities, including the confidentiality and no judgement attributes).
